Farewell to Durlston

Durlston Court School provided the Talking Newspaper with a home free of charge for 10 years a massive contribution to a tiny Charity. During this time our listeners have enjoyed some of the school sounds in the background including the school bell and the children running past on the gravel outside the studio!

It seems that all good things must come to an end and the New Milton Town Council stepped in to provide us with the use of the vacant tennis pavilionin the Recreation Ground for a period of 6 months giving us the opportunity to try to secure premises in the longer term.

Sadly the last Talking Newspaper at Durlston was recorded on 4 July and equipment was packed up ready for the move the following week. The following photos were taken to mark this historic and important occasion:

The editor of the week with the folder containing the scripts before taking them to the studio. Remarkably all 7 articles on the front page of the Advertiser and Times were selescted.

The Studio Director cleans the returned memory sticks while the Sound Technician sets up the computer for recording.

The 3 readers read through their scripts.

The team is ready for the recording to commence.

The 3 Registrars prepare to register the return of the wallets and the despatch of the new memory sticks and CDs.

The “Bagman” of the week copies the CDs ready for despatch.

With the wallets bagged up in post bags taken to the Sorting Office, the team put equipment in boxes, chairs on tables and the floors cleaned ready for the move.

Farewell Durlston we shall miss you!
