Retirement of Joan Mulkern

On Friday 9 November 2012, a reporter from the New Milton Advertiser and Lymington Times called at the studio to interview our Chairman, Joan Mulkern and take a photo of her with some of her volunteers (Joan is fourth from the right):

On Friday 16 November 2012, Joan  retired as our Chairman, 13 years after she helped found the New Milton Talking Newspaper. On the same day, Joan attended the recording of her last Talking Newspaper which included an article from the New Milton Advertiser & Lymington Times headed: “Talking Newspaper founder steps down after 13 years”:

Immediately after the recording, 8 volunteers saw Joan presented with a copy of the Advertiser & Times so that she might show her family.

After the memory sticks and CDs had been processed, more volunteers past and present arrived to have a drink with Joan. In recognition of her contribution to the Talking Newspaper,  20 volunteers saw Joan receive a card signed by over 25 volunteers and the Headmaster & his wife and receptionist at Durlston Court School, and a cash leaving present was given to Joan who said that she would buy something for her new home.

Some photographs of the events on 16 November 2012 are shown below.
