In November 2013 Esther Rantzen launched Silver Line and used Bob’s story as part of the publicity campaign.
As a result, details of Bob’s meeting with Esther appeared in the local and national press.
This culminated in the BBC spending a day in Bob’s home and using the footage during the Sports Relief broadcast on 21 March 2014.
Bob has undertaken a number of speaking engagements to spread the word about Silver Line. Wherever possible Bob has mentioned that he works for the Talking Newspaper and his increasing involvement is greatly appreciated.
In the week beginning 13 October 2014 when the media covered the loneliness of single men, Bob was interviewed on radio and television and read his poignant poem about being parted from Kath his beloved wife of 65 years. To hear Bob’s poem please click on the link below:
Bob’s poem and his involvement with the Silver Line were also reported in national and local newspapers including the Daily Echo. In December 2014, Bob joined Esther in a reception at 10 Downing Street before they went on to the House of Lords where Bob and Esther gave a talk.
