Through his Silverline and BBC connections, Bob Lowe arranged that the Talking Newspaper was promoted in two TV programmes to give the Talking Newspaper a kick-start at the start of the New Year.
The Age of Loneliness
A BBC TV crew visited the Talking Newspaper’s studio in June last year, as part of a programme called The Age of Loneliness. The programme was transmitted nationally on BBC1 at 10.35 pm on Thursday 7 January.
Bob says how important his involvement in the Talking Newspaper is to him.The programme shows Bob arriving at our studio with the week’s scripts and the edition being recorded with three readers.

Earlier in the day Bob was interviewed on BBC 5 Live to promote the programme.
The subject of loneliness was also covered by the BBC South’s programme Inside Out at 7.30 pm on Monday 18 January. Introduced by Jon Cuthill, Bob goes out and about in New Milton interviewing residents about overcoming loneliness.
In the programme Bob tells the story of his marriage with Kath and working with Esther Rantzen on promoting the Silverline.
The principal source of articles in the Talking Newspaper is the New Milton Advertiser & Lymington Times. The programme shows the paper being printed in New Milton and Bob collecting the paper prior to editing it and recording articles at our studio in New Milton.
