What was new in 2014?

Mini-Pantomime

At Christmas, we ventured into using our own Christmas music after we recorded one of the Jubilee Singers;’ rehearsals. Flush with success, we took up the idea from one of our former readers to record a pantomime for our listeners.

Move back to New Milton

After 10 years based at Durlston Court School in Barton on Sea, we learnt that we would have to vacate the premises in the middle of July, as the School needed the space back. We are very grateful to the School for giving us a home free of charge for so many years.

The New Milton Town Council kindly agreed that the Talking Newspaper use the vacant tennis pavilion for a period of 6 months.

The last Talking Newspaper at Durlston was recorded on 4 July and equipment was packed up ready for a move the following week.

Farewell to Durlston

A team of volunteers lead by Bob Lowe organised a move to the new premises on Tuesday 8 July and everything was made ready by Friday 11 July for the first recording in our new home – a magnificent effort.

Information Day at Milford on Sea 26 September 2014

On Friday 26 September, we joined in on an Information Day organised by Open Sight in Milford’s Community Centre.

We had a prominent position in the hall which meant we could lay out examples of our work to show our visitors.

We were delighted by the number of people who visited our stand, including some of our existing listeners. Our volunteers were kept busy and a number of people were added to our mailing list which was very encouraging.
